About Jenny Bray

Since 1998 Jenny has been an independent consultant and trainer to the community care, aged care, disability support, early childhood intervention and Local Government sectors in New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia and the Australian Capital Territory. Jenny has worked extensively in regional and rural areas as well as in metropolitan settings.

Pre-consultancy Experience

  • delivering direct care with adults with an intellectual disability and people with acquired brain injury
  • information, referral, counselling and sector development work for the Brain Injury Association of NSW
  • policy work for the NSW Department of Community Services
  • delivering training for community care providers and TAFE
  • project managing a vast array of Projects for government and non-government agencies.


  • has designed and facilitated many consultations to engage people with disabilities (to improve services and inform Local Government Inclusion Action Plans)
  • has delivered information and engagement sessions to family members of people with disabilities
  • assisted Liverpool City Council to qualify for membership in WHO Global Network of Age-Friendly Cities and Communities
  • presented evidence before, the NSW Standing Committee of Law and Justice for the Review of the NSW Motor Accidents Act, 1988
  • developed a Disability Action Plan for Broken Hill City Council that was used to support a successful application for a $300k accessible playground

Industry Expert

  • Author of the chapter on Cultural Competency in Aged Care in Australia: a guide for aged care workers, second edition. This text is a valuable resource for aged care workers, carers, volunteers and the aged care industry. It is a prescribed textbook for students wishing to complete units of competency from the Community Services Training Package: Certificate III and Certificate IV in Aged Care.
  • Consulting expert on video resource Professional Boundaries in the Health Care produced by Video Education Australia P/L. This video is distributed across Australia to TAFEs and other Registered Training Organisations and is widely used as a training resource on the subject.

Jenny communicates and works effectively in cross-cultural environments. She is often called upon to provide training to ethno-specific and multicultural organisations, and to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander organisations. These have included:
