Balancing Choice and Risk - course details

Person centred approaches involve providing maximum choice and control for the person being supported. However, balancing risk and choice is often a delicate issue. Research has shown that when services remove all risk (uncertainty), opportunities for inclusion and "positive risk taking" are lost. In the long term, this can result in the person being more vulnerable. In this course you are introduced to the idea of "positive risk taking" and how to take a person centred approach to risk, whilst maintaining duty of care.
